"The Final Mystery is Oneself."
An official selection at over 30 film festivals worldwide, "Pig" is an award-winning mystery/sci-fi film that raises issues about memory and identity that have never been timelier. These and other questions will be weighed by a distinguished panel representing the latest in neuroscientific research, bioethics, and future technology.
7pm - DOORS, FOOD & DRINK SPECIALS | 8pm SCREENING | 10pm Panel

In Henry Barrial's Pig, A man wakes up alone in the middle of the desert with a black hood on his head and his hands tied behind his back. At death's door, he is discovered by a woman living alone in the desert and is nursed back to health. Upon regaining consciousness, the man realizes he has no idea who he is or how he got in the desert. His only clue, a piece of paper in his pocket with the name "Manny Elder" written on it, sends him on a journey to Los Angeles to discover his past. But things and people are not what they seem and clues lead to something bigger and more unusual than the man could have ever imagined.

Praise for "Pig"
"A splendidly crafted...conceptually ambitious thriller. A story that glistens with philosophical relevance for our current age. Echoes of other noir-tinted puzzle-box films such as The Game,Oldboy, and Memento. The kind of sly little genre experiment that reveals the parched cinematic imagination that characterizes most studio thrillers." - GATEWAY CINEFILES
 |
“Highly recommended. Along the lines of Nolan's Memento. There is good reason for its film festival success. Barrial's Pig is a thoughtful meditation on consciousness and being, developed as a suspenseful search for self."
- Scott Urban, THE HORROR ZINE
“The most provocative film I saw at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. A brilliant sci-fi thriller…that catches you by surprise and lingers in the mind
long after the final fade out."
- Robin E Simmons, DESERT STAR WEEKLY
“ An intelligent, intriguing film. A cross between Memento and The Machinist, with a sci-fi twist. Very well shot, acted and produced. Seriously, it looks great. And it keeps you guessing all the way through. I most definitely recommend this film."
- Neil Weakley, COMEDY FILM NERDS
“ An excellent, well-crafted film. A twisty little mystery...
thought provoking, intelligent."
- Jonathan Weichsel, FILMRADAR
“ Reminiscent of Memento...absorbing and satisfying. A suspenseful mystery about how much our memories shape us. "
